Today, on various cryptocurrency platforms, you may come across an option called "Launchpool." While experienced users know exactly what it entails, this concept is often unfamiliar to beginners. However, the financial opportunities it presents can be highly attractive. Due to a lack of understanding of Launchpools, many are hesitant to explore them, leading to missed earning potential. This article aims to explain what a Launchpool is and why it can be worth exploring.

Explanation of a Launchpool

A Launchpool can be defined as an intermediary between potential investors and emerging crypto projects, enabled by decentralized finance (DeFi). To clarify, DeFi refers to financial services built on decentralized networks, such as blockchain.

In essence, DeFi represents a collection of decentralized applications offering financial services that are often more advantageous than traditional banking institutions. To better illustrate how a Launchpool works, let’s use Binance Launchpool as an example. This is a feature offered by Binance, one of the world's most popular cryptocurrency platforms.

An Example with Binance Launchpool

When a user wishes to invest through Binance Launchpool, they must deposit their capital into a liquidity pool, which is a reserve of tokens based on a decentralized network.

This liquidity pool operates on Binance Smart Chain, meaning the capital must be deposited in either BNB or BUSD, Binance's native cryptocurrencies. Once the capital is deposited, the user earns rewards in the form of tokens representing a crypto project that has not yet been launched.

The number of tokens earned daily depends on the proportion of the user’s contribution to the total capital in the liquidity pool. The annual yield (APY) for each pool is displayed and can vary from 2% to 120%.

On Binance Launchpool, users can withdraw the earned tokens at any time. However, the deposited capital is typically locked for a minimum of 30 days. After this period, users can choose to withdraw their capital if they wish.

Benefits of a Launchpool

  1. Early Access to Tokens:
Investors can acquire tokens from projects before they are publicly listed.
  2. Potential for High Growth:
Once tokens are listed on a public platform, they often experience significant value increases. For instance, the GMT token from the STEP'N project was available on Binance Launchpool for €0.10 but later rose to €3.57, a growth of over 300%.

Risks of a Launchpool

Although Launchpools offer attractive returns, there are risks involved. Some projects fail to meet their goals, leading to losses for investors. For example, the VOXEL token from the Voxies project dropped from €2.55 to €0.28.
