There’s a kind of “myth” that you can only buy certain products with the Bitcoin crypto-currency. In this post, I’ll explain how you can very easily buy anything that trades in physical stores, as well as online.
How can Bitcoin holders buy with their token?
If you do a Google search, you’ll find plenty of posts listing some of the sites that accept crypto-currency. More and more stores, especially online stores, are accepting bitcoins as a means of payment.
A few days ago, CryptoTrend published a report on how to buy products in the Amazon store. It’s interesting, because you can buy books or food, but you’ll still be limited to what they sell.
What I’m going to tell you below is my personal experience of how, with bitcoins, you can buy from any business that accepts credit cards, which is over 90% of stores worldwide.
To make purchases with bitcoins, all you need is a wallet to which you can link a card. Personally, I use Xapo, as I find it simple and its maintenance costs are relatively low.
When you buy in a store with the Xapo card, you are charged in the local currency (in my case, Argentine pesos) at the official dollar exchange rate.
The card is very useful, as it’s a Visa debit card, and you can use it in any country in the world. If you’re traveling abroad, you can forget about taking cash with you, as you’ll always pay in local currency, and the bitcoins will be deducted from your account.
In short, buying with bitcoins is as easy as using a credit card. For more information on how to use the prepaid card, please visit the official Xapo website.
