A major treasure hunt is planned for Bordeaux on 7 May! A large number of art lovers and collectors are expected to attend the event in Bordeaux. Start-ups have launched this initiative to revitalise the art sector, thanks to NFTs.
An artistic revival project
Since the Covid crisis and the many restrictions that have hit the arts sector hard, a number of associations and start-ups have joined forces to revive the sector. Now it's the turn of Stendhal, in association with Unitec, who are proposing initiatives.
At the heart of the project, they are organising this collaborative event, open to all. Having been deprived of this artistic sphere for several months, the many participants in this event will be able to criss-cross the streets of Bordeaux and try to win the treasure. It's a great idea, and one that will undoubtedly lead to new solutions in the world of culture. In fact, it's all being made possible by NFTs, something that's never been done before. It's a free, open-air cultural event, compatible with current restrictions. What's more, according to Stendhal: "all the resources made available by the sponsors will go directly to the artists".
Unitec and Stendhal
Two companies, Unitec and Stendhal, are behind this enigma project. Unitec is an organisation that supports start-ups in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region, and more specifically in Bordeaux and the surrounding area. It was this company that helped and supported Stendhal in the creation and development of this project. Stendhal is a company specialising in blockchain technology. It has also created an application called Wallkanda. This is an application that is used to record all the information on works of street art. Simply by taking a photo of the work on display, the application enables you to support the artist and/or the cause he or she is defending.
Riddles to decipher to win NFTs
The event is called Bordeaux Decrypts the Street, and literally means Bordeaux decrypts the street. As you can imagine, it's a quest for crypto assets in the streets of the city. In fact, participants will have to look for multiple riddles in the street. There will be 12 riddles, all of them original, never-before-seen works designed specifically for the event.
The 12 works have been created by a number of local artists and will be displayed on walls in twelve different locations. Along the way, players will have to search for these works, each of which contains a hidden word. Together, these words form a keyword that can unlock the treasure hunt prize. The grand prize for the winner of the competition will be digital assets. These are NFTs created from the works that make up the 12 enigmas.
Making NFTs easy to access
NFTs are non-fungible tokens that provide immaterial proof of ownership of an asset that has been purchased, or in this case won. Unlike other crypto-currencies, such as utility tokens (bitcoin, litecoin, etc.), NFTs are unique and interchangeable. Generally speaking, these crypto assets are used by art collectors and major investors. More and more big names, such as Elon Musk and many companies, are turning to NFTs to diversify their activities.
However, very few private individuals are aware of NFTs. So this initiative is first and foremost an educational tool to stimulate interest among the general public. Indeed, the aim of the project's creators is to help people learn more about cryptocurrencies and get used to using them. Whether in art or other disciplines, crypto and NFTs in particular, have become resources not to be overlooked.
