The annual WSOT trading competition is back. Registration for the Bybit cryptocurrency exchange’s WSOT 2021 edition opened on August 18, and promises once again to be the world’s biggest cryptocurrency trading tournament.
The WSOT 2021 prize pool could reach a record 7.5 million USDT, along with collectible NFTs and many other prizes, as announced by Bybit.
“WSOT is back: bigger and better, just like we promised.”
“We want to celebrate excellence and the competitive spirit while highlighting the positive influence of cryptos in our daily lives: improving financial literacy, getting people interested in technology and demonstrating how we can be a force for change and give a little back to society as a whole.” Ben Zhou, co-founder and CEO of Bybit
The classic trading event at Bybit, one of the world’s most popular cryptocurrency exchanges, attracted over 12,000 attendees last year. Among the 135 troupes and 2,128 individual participants, winners took home $1.27 million in prize money last year.
The grand prize
With prizes of up to US$6 million for the group challenge and up to US$1.5 million for the individual challenge, the WSOT 2021 is set to be the event of the year for traders worldwide.
“At Bybit, we continue to be amazed by the incredible support from the global crypto community. As a way of saying thank you, we’ve worked very hard over the past 12 months to take the experience of this competition to the next level, with the biggest prize to date,” said Zhou.
WSOT 2020 was user junki84’s first trading competition.
He put his trading strategy to the test and finished with an incredible individual P&L (%) of 5,242.02%.
Equally impressive was the performance of trader SalsaTekila, who finished second with an individual P&L (%) of 3,956.56%.
With more awards and more participants, the competition is set to be even more intense this year.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to provide a platform to match the ambitions of the world’s top traders. Their achievements are to be admired.
“Their skills and passion embody everything that cryptocurrencies stand for: creating a fair, transparent and open environment for people to show the best version of themselves,” Zhou remarked.
WSOT 2021 is open to traders from all regions of the world where Bybit services are available.
Participants can form a troupe or compete on their own and enjoy early bird benefits, discounts or waivers on transaction fees and over 1,000 NFT and an additional 40,000 USDT to be won.
For a better future
In 2020, Bybit donated a portion of the WSOT prize money to UNICEF, a total of 10 BTC with a market value of $100,000, to mitigate the far-reaching consequences and effects of the pandemic.
One year on, COVID-19 remains a global crisis, particularly affecting children’s access to education and threatening their long-term well-being.
This year, Bybit has quadrupled its donation to $400,000 in BTC to support UNICEF in its efforts to provide girls in Vietnam with education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, as well as quality education in East Asia and the Pacific.
“The world is learning to live with the pandemic, but the vulnerable groups most affected by it are often neglected”.
“Over the years, Bybit has witnessed the talent and potential of members of the global crypto community, regardless of age, gender or background,” Igneus Terrenus, Communications Director at Bybit.
“There really is no better investment than the well-being of children and their right to education. We hope that our donation to UNICEF will help improve the lives of those who, as they grow up, will shape the future.”
