Ledger Nano S Plus: the new Ledger wallet

In April 2022, Ledger released its new Ledger Nano S Plus wallet. Why have a Ledger Nano S Plus wallet? What are the differences from other Ledger wallets? And how much does it cost? We will answer all your questions.

Ledger Nano S Plus: security first
For every crypto investor, having a secure wallet is essential. This is why there are two types of wallets today: cold wallets and hard wallets. The main difference being whether they are connected to networks or not.

A cold wallet or cold wallet in French is used for maximum security. Indeed, being offline and disconnected, it is impossible to hack. As you can see, the Ledger Nano S Plus is the latest cold wallet from Ledger, the leader in this field.

Like other wallets sold by Ledger, it ensures that private keys are generated securely on the device. This offers a very high level of security compared to hard wallets.

In addition, the Ledger Nano S Plus has obtained the CSPN certificate (First Level Security Certificate) issued by ANSSI (National Agency for Information Systems Security).

Ledger Nano S Plus: the good compromise

The Ledger Nano S Plus is a happy medium between the Nano

Secondly by its appearance, it stands out with a new design, an update of the Nano S model with a larger screen, revised internal components, but above all more memory.

The latter is smaller, but also lighter than its big brother the Nano X. It weighs 21 grams and measures 62.39 mm x 17.40 mm x 8.24 mm. Finally, its last physical advantage is its screen, larger than the Nano S and equivalent to that of the Nano X which measures 128 × 64 pixels.

As explained, the Nano S Plus has more memory than the Nano S with a memory of 1.50 MB. This may not seem like much to you, but you should know that a cryptocurrency application only weighs a few dozen KB.

The Ledger Nano S Plus can therefore contain up to 100 applications at the same time while the previous version only allowed 4 to 5 at best. In addition, it allows you to install up to 100 applications and is compatible with more than 5,500 crypto-assets.

The big new thing is that in addition to being able to store cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH), it now allows you to store non-fungible tokens or NFTs.

In terms of connectivity, it has a USB-C connector just like the Nano X, instead of the old Micro-USB connector of its little brother the Nano S.

Like the Nano S, the Nano S Plus does not have Bluetooth functionality or an internal battery.
